VHS Hardcovers Are Almost Here and Survey Reminder!
– Thu, May 29, 2025 at 05:30:35 AM
I got a notification today that the VHS hardcover editions have left the printer! 🚀
They should be here in a week or so. Once they are, I'll begin shipping out all the books! To that end, a little housekeeping - I will be charging cards for shipping tomorrow. The vast majority of you have completed your survey (thank you!), and only a couple of you still need to. Please do so if you get a chance today. We're moving right along with fulfillment!
If at any time you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email, or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at the link below:

The mall is open...
Your digital rewards, including the Dead Malls ebook and digital art package are here!
To get your books, just log in to the BookFunnel app or my.bookfunnel.com using the email address provided earlier (or using your Kickstarter email, however you collected their email for delivery). If you log in and your BookFunnel library is empty, log in to BookFunnel using your other email address to get your books. Any questions, let me know!
I'm so glad the book is in your hands, and I can't wait to hear what you think!
The majority of you have completed your survey - thank you! Only a few of you have yet to do so. Please check your email and if you have any questions, let me know!
The survey will close on Friday, May 30th. At that point, cards will be charged for shipping, and books will start going out. The books are largely here, except for the VHS hardcovers. They are on track to be here the first week of June. I'll keep you posted on progress!

Surveys Are Out!
– Fri, May 16, 2025 at 08:00:36 AM
Surveys have gone out from BackerKit!
The smoke test went well, so I'm sending all the surveys! Please check your email in case it ended up in spam. The surveys help with making sure I have the right address or email to send rewards to, and also gives you a chance to add some more goodies if you're interested.
I'll give the process a couple weeks. Once the surveys are complete, I'll lock orders and charge cards for those paying for shipping and additional add-ons. And the books will start to go out! The ARCADE edition paperbacks are already here, and they are AMAZING! Everything is on track with the hardcovers, and I expect they will be here the first week of June or so.
Digital rewards will go out next week so you can have some holiday reading! 🙂
If at any time you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email, or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at the link below:
Dead Malls Member Card First Look and Smoke Test!
– Wed, May 14, 2025 at 07:19:29 AM
The Dead Malls Member Card is here and it's AWESOME!
Front and back of Dead Malls Member Card.
You voted for the Dead Malls Member Card as the last stretch goal for the campaign, and all physical backers will get one with their books! This might be the coolest book-related thing I've ever done. You'll also be able to order extras if you wish with your survey.
Speaking of which...
I'm sending the survey smoke test today! No, I'm not announcing a new pope, but testing the surveys to complete fulfillment. A smoke test is a way for me to ensure no issues or errors in the survey process. 5% of backers will receive their survey via the test, so if you get one, I would appreciate it if you filled it out so I can make sure everything is good!
You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey.
When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. All the surveys will go out next week! I'll give everybody about two weeks to complete theirs, charge cards, and then sometime in June, books will go out!
Digital rewards will be distributed next week! 🥳

Dead Malls VHS Hardcover Proof First Look!
– Wed, May 07, 2025 at 08:10:18 AM
Here's your first look at the Dead Malls limited edition VHS hardcover!
This proof features custom end papers and sprayed edges, and is a thing of beauty!
The order for the books has been placed, and I expect them to arrive around early to mid-June (they're coming from the UK). Paperback copies will be here around the same time, if not sooner. You can order additional copies when surveys go out, which I anticipate to be on 5/21. I'll send a 'smoke test' next week to a small number of backers to make sure there are no bugs. My goal is for everyone to have completed their surveys by 6/4.
Then fulfillment will begin!
My friend Christopher Schmitz is back with another fun Kickstarter campaign! Check it out!
